This is an unlicensed medication
Some of our products have been manufactured by a specials manufacturer. The active ingredients are commonly used in in the conditions they are intended to treat, but they are now classified as either an unlicensed special or an ‘off-label’ medicine.

What is an “unlicensed” medicine?

An unlicensed medicine can be a medicine that is made as a different, unlicensed version of a licensed medicine (e.g. a solid oral medication made into a liquid formulation, or a medication made in a different strength to the original licensed version). This could also be a medicine that has a license in other countries, but not the UK. This could also mean a medicine that has no license at all.

What is an “off-label” medicine?

An off-label medicine is one that is used in a different way to that described in its licence. Examples of off-label use include using a medicine for a different condition to that stated in the licence. This may happen because doctors have found that the medicine works very well for another condition. Using the medicine in this way may be supported by expert groups, but the manufacturer of the medication has not extended its licence. It could also mean using a medicine at a higher dose than stated in the licence.

Scientific Evidence

Topical Finasteride + Minoxidil works by counteracting the enzyme that is responsible for converting testosterone to DHT and causing hair loss. In fact, clinical studies found that men with androgenetic alopecia (aka, male pattern baldness) who used the medication saw a significant increase in total hair counts, a decrease in hair loss and were pleased with their hair growth. Finasteride, a 5α-reductase inhibitor that prevents the conversion of testosterone to DHT, mixed with minoxidil, a vasodilator that improves blood flow to follicles and promotes hair regrowth, is a topical formulation shown to effectively treat male pattern baldness. Plus, unlike hair transplants or oral medications, topical finasteride is non-invasive and easy to use.

Got questions? We've got answers...

What is male hair loss (Androgenetic Alopecia)?

Male hair loss, also known as Androgenetic Alopecia, is a common genetic condition that causes hair thinning and baldness in men. It is often hereditary and can begin as early as your late teens or early twenties.

How and when should I start treatment?

This treatment is suitable for men above the age of 18 who aim to prevent hair loss from happening. For the best results, it is important to start treatment early on to minimise hair loss. The benefit of this treatment kit is you don’t need to remember to take any pills, all the activity takes place at scalp level. It is important that you follow regular daily application in order to gain the best results.

How do I use this topical spray?

Apply once a day (5-7 sprays). Spray on all areas where male baldness can occur (temples, top, crown). The product works on the scalp, so part your hair when spraying. You can rub the solution into the areas using your fingers. Do not wash your hair for at least 4 hours. We recommend applying it before bed.

Is this an unlicensed treatment?

Yes. Our Topical Spray is an unlicensed treatment, characterized by the following: 1.) A medicine that is formulated in an alternative version to the licensed medicine (e.g. a oral medication made into a topical liquid formulation, or a medication made in a different strength to the original licensed version). (2) A medicine that has no licence at all. (3) A medicine that has a licence in other countries, but not the UK. Every request for our medicines are reviewed by our independent doctors. Each doctor will review your online consultation and prescribe a hair loss treatment only if it is clinically appropriate, based on individual circumstances and if the licensed treatments are not suitable. Suitability can be based on the clinical profile of a patient, prior side effects or patient preference due to concerns around the licensed medicine.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects are generally uncommon with this product. If any occur, they are mild and most importantly reversible. This makes our topical spray the preferred option among users since it comes with compara effectiveness effectiveness as our pills but less side effects. That being said, systematic side effects which tend to occur with finasteride oral tables have not been reported in the studies conducted on this topical spray.

When will I see results?

You can see results within 3-6 months, however, it could take longer for some men. It is important to apply the spray to your scalp on a daily basis. With continued use, the hair follicles gain greater volume, which helps prevent further hair loss and helps promote the re-growth of longer and thicker hair. If you stop treatment, the new hair is likely to disappear after 3-4 months.

Do you offer a money-back guarantee?

If you don't see results after 180 days of treatment, you'll get a voucher for our prescription treatments. Please check our refund policy for more details.
